More New Businesses on the Pike

As was mentioned in a recent post, Twisted Vines (Wine shop) will be opening soon on the Pike.

It also looks like World Gym has signed a lease for space at the Halstead. The 10,292 square foot health club will include a mezzanine and is slated to open in Spring/Summer of 2010.

Disappointed it's not a nicer gym. Their web site is not inspiring. Fairfax gym schedule: like four classes all week, most of which are called "Ape training for woman." WTF is that?

From their website: Ape Training, the ultimate full body conditioning. Using unconventional methods to break the boredom of excercising.

I think the Ape is used as part of their logo. You see it when you log onto the site.

No offense to the great apes, lovely as they are--but how is the prospect of looking, smelling, or sounding like one good for a gym's image?

I have been a member of World Gym before and it is actually pretty nice.

The hours could be great though. The web says the Fairfax gym is 24 hrs & the Dale City gym is open later than Golds. Can't wait to find out how late ours will be open!

Me too. I love nothing more than working out at 2 am.

Wait, my word verification is "sperm"? Excuse me?

I walked past the Halstead this morning and saw no indication that World Gym was planning to open an affiliate there. What's the source of your information? I sure hope the Gym does open .. what a great addition to our community it would be. By the way, I did see a number of notices posted about an Irish pub/restaurant opening there. Yawn!
