This blog is dedicated to expressing Arlington Village residents' feelings about our community. It is a blog for the people and by the people. Please give updates on your committee meetings, problems with the community, security issues and of course the great reasons to live in "the village".

I'm a few blocks down from the Village and I noticed the same thing. It smells very strongly of chlorine too.
I just found the following info on the county's website:
"From February 1 - May 17, the disinfectant for Arlington drinking water will temporarily change from chloramines to chlorine. This is an annual measure that ensures the health of our water distribution system."
We were just talking about that this weekend. Ours smelled like chlorine.
Does anyone know when AV will resume trash collection? I realize that it will be difficult to wheel many of the bins out still, but trash is really piling up around the bin enclosures.
From the GM:
"Parking: Management has received several complaints regarding violations of the Parking policy. Please be reminded that Arlington Village does not have “reserved” parking. Parking spaces are available to residents and their guests on a “first come-First serve” basis. While we certainly understand that many of you have shoveled individual spaces, that particular space cannot be reserved exclusively for your unit. However, residents are encouraged to work together and shovel out additional spaces. This act of kindness will ultimately create more parking for everyone."
JAMES SEZ, PLEASE REMOVE THE CHAIRS, CONES AND OTHER DEBRIS BECAUSE IT'S AGAINST THE VILLAGE LAWS. THANK YOU.
Who will enforce the policy? Where will AV residents park who cannot find parking?
Yea, the first to come to the spot I spent 2 hours digging our will be served with something very special
Anonymous @6:53. You spent 2 hours digging out your car because you had to use your car to drive somewhere. That was the purpose of digging out, not to reserve a spot. If you want to reserve your spot, just leave your car where it is until the snow melts!
Besides, the person who you think "takes" your spot might not even be the person who removed your "marker." It could be several people before. AV management should just go out to the parking lots and remove those "markers" to avoid the threats like the one that you've just made.
Anyone ever think that if someone is parking in the spot you dug out, there is a good chance it's because they dug themselves out of a spot too?
Our trash needs to be picked up. Even DC is picking up trash. Trash is overflowing into trash areas. I need to start bringing my trash to the AV office.
The sidewalks still need to be cleared. The AV staff get a A+ for their work during the storm, but a D since the storm ended.
I don't understand how there is no room to put the snow except on the roads???
The AV staff needs to bring Bobcat loader in to clear up S. Barton Street. This will help with parking.
GM's MEMO asked us to shovel snow to create more parking although she mentioned later that J&L contractors cannot create more parking because no space for snow. It does not make sense to ask us to shovel more with no place for snow. I agree with 10:28PM. We need a heavy equipment to remove snow. I remember the office moved snow out from the Barton St in 2003. They should do the same.
Does anyone else believe our water might be fluoridated? I feel a lack of essence lately.
Why are all these parking-related posts in the wrong place?
Does anyone konw if the chorine in the water is bad for us?? It tastes horrible and smells really strongly when I shower.
Chlorine is used in our pool, I think you'll be fine. But, I get what you're saying about the after-shower smell.
Nice one Ripper. Reminds me of Cupcake's old posts.
