Note from AV Office:
Please be advised that Arlington County has placed parking restrictions on South Cleveland Street, between South 13th Road and South 11th Street, to install a new water main.
The parking restrictions are from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday. Any cars parked on South Cleveland Street between those times are subject to towing by Arlington County at the owner’s expense.
The work is scheduled to start on Monday, September 15, 2008, and should be finished within five weeks.
If any of your neighbors are out-of-town and you know how to contact them, please do so or call the management office at 703-920-1000 so our staff can try and notify the absent owner(s).
If you have any questions regarding this County project, please contact the Mr. Sims (Construction Manager, Engineering Division) at 703-228-3592.

Good for you. I can't say enough about the county's actions in this. I have neighbors who are on vacation this week-end through mid-week who will be effected.
Not even one business day's notice.
Very unfair.
Talk about, once again, poor resident communication efforts.
Did Arlington Village know about this beforehand, or did they find out when the municipal workers came and dropped off the equipment?
Blogger?
My parking will be effected by this and I called the number on the sheet that was passed around. Not even a phone call back! I also called the police and they thought they needed to give at least 24 hours notice (assuming that's a business day). I'd also like to know why they can leave their crap 24/7 on the street for 5 weeks. It would be nice if they could take their equipment with them on the weekends.
With all due deference to the Village staff, they might just have found out about the same time everyone else found out.
It doesn't really matter who found out when to me, they have a port-a-potty on the corner of the street. Are you serious? It doesn't even lock. Imagine what kind of people that will wander over there to use free facilities? Plus workers left a bunch of trash on Friday (cans and mustard packets). Don't taxpayers have any rights? Just because they are doing work doesn't mean they can just make our neighborhood look like a trash dump.
Would you rather the workers relieve themselves in your bushes? Or would you just rather have the potty in someone else's backyard? Maybe we should just let the water main rot away. Then all you whiners would be like..."oh why didn't the county do something sooner?"
You obviously don't live next to it. There's a right way to do things and a wrong way to do things. The right way is to give proper notice, clean up after yourselves and have a lock on the bathroom.
Wouldn't like the monkey hiding out in the Royal Flush now would we?
