Did you hear that the bridge on Glebe Road just suddenly started dropping chunks of concrete onto Route 50 last week? Luckily no one was hurt or hit by the concrete! The Washington Post story said that road crews scraped about 100 pounds of the loose concrete from the bridge and now declare it safe and open for business as usual.
However, just last month Fox declared that the bridge at the bottom of Columbia Pike, in which Washington Blvd. flows over, is the worst in the DC area! That bridge isn't slated to be redone until next year.
Fingers crossed that the work will get done quickly. With all the construction in the area and new residents that will hopefully be moving in...the stress on the roadways and bridges in our area is just going to increase exponentially. Maybe we can get some stimulus money for these projects?

Cupcake has lived here too long to know that every time that bridge gets funded the money seems to disappear and the project never gets done. Only during the election cycle when some county or state official is up for election does that bridge get any attention. It could be worse. Click the Cupcake.
As a matter of fact that last big hot air presentation was '06

Yup. FWIW, I know back in the 2001 time frame when I bought my unit, they said that it was time to repair the columbia pike / 27 bridge, and that it was "studdied" for repair multiple times...
G'damn it, cupcake. My PC crashes when Adobe takes over.
Upgrade your TRS 80 for something a little newer and you'll be OK. It's only in pdf so what can I say.
It's all such a lazy cycle. Construction costs are cut to meet a 'budget', the workers stand around for 1/2 the day and do a shoddy job so that they get to do the same job in 5 years...it's everywhere...but what can you do, we as a country will never learn (and we don't care). Everyone is on the take, there is no accountability. I laughed to see the 'leaders' standing out near the bridge finger-pointing. Why isn't anyone this passionate about Exxon making billions? Or asking why education personnel are being laid off? Yes the bridge sucks, but just allocate the figgin money, fix it and move on. It's not going to fall down tomorrow, so if your going to go on the news blasting the State, have a further reaching agenda.
