Want to be a Board Member?

I hear that an AV Blast should be going out to all residents that are interested in being on the Board. Problem is...no blast has gone out and the deadline to put your hat in the ring is February 19th. Yes...3 days from now. I suggest calling the office if you are interested in the position.

The blast went out this morning. They want all bios of those interested by 10am on Friday.

I'm just wondering how many people get the AV blast as a percentage of the Village? Wouldn't it have been better to put a note in the mailboxes or even by the trash cans so that the largest net could be cast for a new Board Member? Or at least let everyone know that there was an opening?

I signed up for it, but never get it. Need to look into that.

If you don't care enough to sign up for the email blast, are you going to care enough to run for a board seat?

"If you don't care enough to sign up for the email blast..."

What a silly statement. Without going into the administrative shortcomings of the A.V. e-mail blast, it should be clear to everyone that the means of communication are less important than the information communicated. And therein lies the problem.

To assume that interest and abilities could be determined by one's desire to sort and read through email messages is clearly folly.

In fact, my silly, childlike friend, the blogger responsible for the forum in which you scribe your silly musings has arguably done more for communications here at Arlington Village than the rest of the Board in it's entirety.

Perhaps we should make a concerted effort to identify him/her and demand appointment.

And I bet we still wouldn't know if he/she gets involved with "email blasts."

There are notices by the trash cans and in the laundry rooms. It looks like they were put up yesterday morning. I also noticed there was a flyer for the game night coming up next Friday.

Funny how the AV Blast went out after the blogger commented. Even funnier is the fact that there are now fliers up after someone commented on the blog about putting notices out.

"What a silly statement..."

It was actually a question. (Hint: the punctuation gives it away.)

Dear Arlington Village Owner:

It seems that those who post to your blog oftentimes resort to ad hominem attacks (e.g., "my silly, childlike friend" from Anonymous poster on Feb. 17 at 10:58 AM) rather than to try to inspire true dialogue. I imagine that your intent in setting up the blog wasn't to provide the Village malcontents a forum for airing their attacks against others and the Board. Or was it? Because to bring about change, you and your posters need to suggest some positive solutions to the problems you observe in your blog, and not simply resort to negative attacks against each other. Anonymous sniping at each other has never improved any community that I've ever lived in.

"Malcontents?"

Et tu, Lily?

C'mon people let's be nice. Cupcake doesn't like all these nattering nabobs of negativism.

Let me guess, Cupcake: you're so excited to be a Democrat that you just want EVERYBODY to know.

I'd rather the ad hominem snipes.

I agree that we need some constructive comments on the blog. We have a bunch of people commenting about stupid things. Apparently some have too much time on their hands.
