The Arlington Village Website

It's back to its old ways. :( Sad to say but the website has again lapsed into the spiral of death. A lack of updating and care. It was so nice right before the Board elections how ofter the site was updated. Comments...suggestions???

Would be good if it had more updates. I don't bother looking at it because I just assume it hasn't been.

I'd like a forum where I can actually post a topic I'm interested in. For instance, dogs are not supposed to be let off leash at AV but many dog owners continually break this county law (and some are so ill-trained, they come charging after anyone walking). "Riley, Riley!" said with weak, whiney voice. Real effective.

You can make a complaint to the covenants committee. And you should. I see a lot of dogs (and cats) running around. Both break AV rules.

I'll bet it was "Reilly, Reilly." I don't really care about the leash or the county laws. But I'm with you one hundred percent about people with weak, whiney voices - there should be a law about THAT! A federal law, though, so I don't have to hear it outside of Arlington.

And this is the forum. Post away!

We need some positive posts. No offense, but the last two are negative (and so are the comments). There are some good things going on in AV and Arlington. Yes, site needs to be updated. Yes, we need a forum to discuss issues. But after awhile the negativity gets old. Change only happens when community members get involved to change.

Why don't the dogs chase the cats with all that running around?

There are many positive posts on this blog! There's useful information on L&N, the power outage that happened the other day, information about businesses on the Pike, local events to attend, etc... I'm sorry if you don't like criticism but if community members want to get involved by expressing themselves on this blog...all the more power to them. Perhaps if there were updates on the website...people would know when community meetings were being held and attend in that way?

I'm with Arlington Village owner on this one...

That which some see as negatives I find informative and helpful.

As someone who works with the communication commity (sp), let me fill you in on some details. One of the features that L&N was supposed to have was some sort of web site service available to the condo. There was supposed to be a meeting last month (on the day of the ice storm) which would allow the communication commity to decide if the L&N service is worth while. So, at some point they will have that meeting and then they'll proceed with updating the website, after they determine the best course of action. After which, I hope to help them initially with at least keeping current calendar of events on the website.

Bravo, ZAK. And thank you.

Thanks, Zak.

Per Arlington County, cats are permitted to be outside "unleashed"; not so dogs. As it should be.

What I find humorous is that one of the newly elected board members promised to re-write the website as part of the communications committee.

They gave up rather quickly from I heard and yet they are now on the board... political promises have hit AV.

Completely unrelated, but has anyone ever been successful contesting the county tax assessment? Hasn't dropped as precipitately as the real home values have.

I don't think the new board members have given up. It does take a time and with all of AVs processes above resident should be a patient. Change doesn't happen overnight.
