I would like to give the public schools whatever they want, but 100 million dollars seems like an awful lot.

Definitely need water utility upgrade.

We should give the public schools whatever they want. Public education is the only way we can succeed. Teachers should wear blue on Tuesdays for "Obama Blue Day." Teachers should register two voters or talk to two people who are on the fence or a McCain supporter and sway them to become a Obama supporter. Teachers should teach some of them. It's for the children.

And here's a Retirement Plan Investment Tip:

If you had purchased $1000.00 of AIG stock one year ago, it would now be worth $56.91.

With Washington Mutual, you would have $120.36 left of the original $1000.

With 'Fannie Mae'(FNM), you would have $11.34 left.

If you had purchased $1000.00 of Lehman Bros one year ago it would now be almost worthless; less than $0.86.

If you had purchased RH Donelley, you would have $45.69 left.

But, if you had purchased $1000.00 worth of beer one year ago, drank all the beer, then turned in the cans for the aluminum recycling refund you would have $214.00.

Based on the above, the best current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.

This is called the 401-Keg Plan.

Obama Blue Day? Unless you want your taxes increased and big government running over you, you should be voting for McCain.

Schools are the future -- and $100 Million is too much. They already get a forture from taxpayers and have done a poor job of educating our children. There are better solutions than throwing money at them.

I was hoping this might be a real discussion of the bond issues.

Hi, I only had 18 months of formal education, I never belonged to any one church, and I was estranged from my father. In only served two years in the House of Representatives, and while there I opposed our President in his waging a war of aggression.

It would be nice Lucy13, but I doubt it will happen here.

There is nothing wrong with political discussions; but as you can see most people around here are incapable of forming an opinion. They only watch tv and parrot whatever the tv person said.

Not only don't they know how much money is being spent by local, state, and federal government; they don't know how much they, themselves, pay in taxes.

They misquote, they insult, they watch more tv, and then complain when they they find a newspaper on their doorstep.

Politicians know this, and do things like having them teach children to sing songs about dear leader, tell them they live in a democracy (and not a Federal Republic), and reduce serious campaign issues to catchy bumper sticker slogans.

History, philosophy, political thought, economics, even news -- politicians know the average person doesn't know anything about it.

And now local politicians and government are taking advantage of the electorate's ignorance.

If you're interested, I'd vote no on all of them. The Housing Authority because it's nothing but a power grab by people who know nothing about housing. The Metro question because I don't see what various capital projects are in need of 10 million dollars. The County facilities and infrastructure projects because I don't trust the priorities. The water pollution control mostly so I can make it a sweep. The schools because we have to stop the hemorrhaging of money for our failing public school system - at least until we address the real problems with education.
