Board Meeting Results?

Any news on what happened at the Board Meeting? Will the pool be open past Labor Day? What's going on with Wi-Fi? Did anyone glance at the proposed budget. What about the guest speakers? Feedback would be great from anyone that attended or heard what happened.

Can only comment on the pool issue. Voted down 4-3, after little discussion.

You know you were at the board meeting, what happened? What's the big secret?

What does the comment above mean?

Will the author either tell us what happened at the meeting, or at least tell us what we are supposed to make of her post? ( I just assume it's a woman)

Not sure, but I think the #1 item on the agenda was the 2010 budget. Any word on what that looks like/were there any committee budget cuts?

Just going to put it out there...I wasn't at the meeting but:

1) Condo fees go up 8%
2) Environmental Committee get's either a budget increase or some "one time" expenditure for a pet project

Anyone else got a guess?

Clarification for late night anonymous poster. Everyone knows on the blog that you are the person that is always negative and antagonistic. The blogger and none of the contributors to the blog (of which are many) were at the meeting. Thus the posted note for information. If a contributor was there they would send in notes and they would be posted for everyone's benefit. No one that contributes to the blog has time for conspiracy theories or to make up posts that we already know the answers to.

I'm the one who posted the item about the pool issue. Kindly note that I only posted this because that's all I know about the board meeting results. Thus why I wrote "can only comment on the pool issue." I have never posted nasty, negative, or antagonistic comments--unlike "Arlington Village Owner."

I'm withdrawing my comments because they were rude, nasty and insensitive.

My apologizes.

Has anyone seen my monkey?

Oh, I saw him. Red bow? Purple ribbon? Looking down on you from above?

Are condo fees really going up 8% or was this part of the attempt to be rude, nasty, and insensitive?

“Rude, nasty and insensitive…”??? Whatever, but the condo fees had gone up 8% two years in a row, then last year they stayed steady. I'd guess that they go up this year based on last years reprieve. It's not a fact - a guess, as was stated in the post.

Looks like we might be getting new street lighting. I see where an electrical contactor has marked the ground near the existing fixtures on Barton Street.

Yes, we are getting new street lighting; for now, on Barton Street only, as I understand it. The city determines which streets are priorities, and I believe that has to do with how highly traveled the street is. They will put in the attractive, old fashioned looking lamps that they are installing elsewhere around Arlington.

I thought it had more to do with the priorities in the neighborhood conservation plan.

According to the other AV blog we get lights all around the village except 13th & Cleveland which doesn't make any sense to me.

That's a very nice blog. Glad you pointed it out.

It is nice. The Scientology people have a blog and web site, too. Thankfully though, none of the AV Board members want to spend our condo fees on that. Yet.

Anonymous said...

Are you inferring that our fees are paying for these ad hoc blogs?

Anonymous said...

It doesn't cost anything to put up a blog. From what I understand the condo fees are not going up this year and if they do it will be in the 1% range. The monkey comments are stupid. Obviously this person needs a life. Same for the person who writes all the rude comments. I find this blog to be useful. Thank you blogger for your time and efforts (and putting up with some idiot neighbors for the greater good).

Imply / infer mean different things.
The ERC is a political committee - the grounds committee serves AV grounds.
The AV board takes condo fees to fund the ERC (as well as other outside environmental groups [ACE]).
A Board member serves on the ERC.
The AV website, which condo fees also pays for, is not as nice as the ERC site.
Money is fungible.
I like this blog.

I stand corrected. I now have a better grasp of infer and imply.
Maybe if the ERC went back to being called the recycling committee it would help.
