Army Navy Country Club

They have really been doing a lot of work over at the Country Club. Is this impacting any of the units that share a fence with them?

It looks like they're reconfiguring the golf course.

I live across from the club and the view from my top window is very cool.

Makes me wish I had enlisted....

You can join as a civilian - the initiation fees are just higher and you need a sponsor. It's a great course and club. I enjoy playing there when I can.

What is going on on South Barton Street? There were crews out there until after 11am last night.

Water main repairs on S. Barton St. Nice to see the county taking care of things before they fail.

Also, we should climb under the fence and play a few holes of midnight golf when they're done.

Two things...

I use to sneak under the fence all the time and play golf at Army Navy.... my tax dollars, my golf course... right?

Yesterday, I counted over 11 Arlington County trucks on Barton St. where the repairs where being made. All of them had there stinky engines on and there were around 15Arlington County employees hanging around while two where actually working...

There were so many Arlington employees I thought they were having their annual picnic!!!

Damn, I wish had my video camera.. what a waste of money...

Just to be clear - it's NOT "your money" at Army Navy Country Club...It's a private - member funded facility.

So, not "your golf course."

Our greens don't seem to be very happy though: http://avgreenteam.wordpress.com/2009/07/30/heavy-digging-in-the-neighboring-country-club/

Are they ever happy? One could waste the better part of a lifetime trying to make "greens" happy...The golf course is beautiful, well maintained and practices environmentally responsible techniques. In fact, the game of golf is doing a lot for the environment while not trying to force people into alternate lifestyles or demonizing constuction efforts etc:

I didn’t find anything unreasonable in what they say. I wouldn’t mind keeping the trees in that corner.

Clinton use to play there all the time -- Bush had no interest and Obama plays golf in his shorts....
