Kitchen Remodel?

If you don't know...the Arlington Village kitchen got remodeled for FREE! It's supposed to be a model. Anyone attempted remodeling your kitchen? What did you do? Independent contractor or a big company like Lowe's or Home Depot?

I got new cabinets at Home Depot. I wouldn't use them again, they messed up the measurements. However I love my new dishwasher and new sink.

I used cabinet discounters and am very happy with the results. If considering upgrading, I would heavily weigh the quality as I probably put too high a quality too ever recoup the price when I sell. That said - I couldn't be happier with them.

I had Regency (Blue van in village)install mine and they did a fantastic job. I'll be using Moses on most projects I do in the future. I'd post a picture, but don't think you can.

good luck.

My neighbor put recess lighting in the kitchen when it was remodeled. Looks fantastic.

I am interested in knowing if people knocked down the wall btwn the kitchen and dining room.

Has anyone done anything about sound-proofing?

I can hear my neighbor's phone conversations as if I was in the same room.

I talked to someone who did the soundproofing. He had to--his neighbor was a junkie or something.

They shoot the insulation in under the floor and into the walls. I'm not sure exactly how it works.

As for the kitchen/dining--I have that configuration and there are cabinets where I guess the wall would be. Previous owner re-did the kitchen.

I used Ikea for the kitchen remodel. They were expensive, but 1/2 as expensive as some contractors out there. Be patient, it's a long haul to go from start to finish. After Ikea re-modelers came through, Moses finished up some things. He was slow as molases (original time frame 1 month, final time frame 6 months and it's still not 100% complete), but did good work.

The wall between the kitchen and dining room was knocked down in my unit and it makes the kitchen so much more usable.
