Home Improvement Week - Parquet Floors

It's almost spring and I'm sure people are planning on some home improvement fixes. Since we had someone post a question about the moldy bathrooms in AV last week...let's talk about how you take care of your parquet floors and stairs.

Has anyone replaced their stairs because of cracking steps?

Have any good contractors to refinish hardwood floors?

Any questions that people may have for others in the Village about this subject?

The salt from the stairs is creating havoc with my floors. Anyone have a good fix?

#1, do you walk around inside in the shoes you wore outside?

The salt is excessive. I hope it isn't damaging the grass or shrubs, or pets for that matter. I sweep my walks and wet mop the front door area 1-2 a week.

What happened to the other comments?

Also, who put a couch out on 16th St?

I had Smith Floor Service redo all the floors and stairs in my place about 3 years ago. It was amazing. They sanded them and cleaned them. Even Smith couldn't believe they turned out so well. The upstairs floors looked almost new. The parquet turned out great too.
He charged me $1,000 cash. But I only gave him a 24 hour window between closing and moving in.
