Construction on Columbia Pike

Does anyone know how much longer this is going to last? It is ridiculous. Is there somewhere or someone to complain to? It's a major artery in the morning and evening...you'd think that they could work around those hours!

Did you just move here? It's called progress, and it's increasing your property value; unless you're a renter. Plus, the County keeps a close eye on making sure the streets are cleaned, etc. You sound like you're in the dark...

From https://www.arlingtonalert.com/latest.php

Beginning this week, the eastbound curb lane of Columbia Pike and S. Quinn Street near the ramp for Washington Blvd. will be closed for approximately two weeks as part of construction for the Gravity Three Water Main Project. Please use alternate routes or public transit during this time.

Arlington has been working with our contractor on this project to minimize traffic disruptions by using a trenchless tunneling method under major roadways. However, during construction an unforeseen situation with the existing utilities was discovered. As a result, crews must excavate by hand using an open trench method in order to protect the utilities under the Columbia Pike and safely install the new 20-inch water main.

Arlington County’s Gravity Three Water Main Project consists of a series of improvements to enhance our water system, improve water delivery and increase the system’s capacity to support residential and commercial growth.

I can't believe how bad traffic was this morning. The County Board's office suggested that I call Michael Collins office at 703-228-6506 to file a complaint.

Yes, I'm sure complaining will make them stop multi-million dollar infrastructure repair work and re-development because your commute is a little tougher.

After I sent a complain to the County this morning and told my friends to do the same (it took me 50 minutes on the 16Y today from 4 Mile Run to Courthouse Rd!), I finally got the email from Arlington Alert:

"Beginning this week, the eastbound curb lane of Columbia Pike and S. Quinn Street near the ramp for Washington Blvd. will be closed for approximately two weeks as part of construction for the Gravity Three Water Main Project. Please use alternate routes or public transit during this time.

We regret the inconvenience and thank you for your patience. (TM/OEM)"

2 weeks is freaking ridiculous. Alternate routes are not available if you take the bus to work!
