The Battle of the Flyers: Green vs. Yellow

On October 1st, AV residents received a green flyer stating that there would be a special board meeting on Thursday, October 8th at 8:00 PM. It's purpose is to, "discuss management continuation issues only, in Executive Session."

Today AV residents got a yellow flyer from "Concerned AV Owners". This also invited people to the same meeting above. It said, "as AV no longer has a GM, we as owners are CONCERNED regarding the transition to "new" management and its short and long term FINANCIAL IMPACT on us. If you share our concerns, you are strongly encouraged to attend the Board meeting."

So...I have a few questions...
1) Doesn't Executive Session mean that you can't attend?
2) Why does the lack of a GM mean that we are going to have a short and long term financial impact on the Village?
3) Who are the "Concerned AV Owners"? Will they be announcing themselves at the meeting on Thursday?
4)Did someone really pay to have all those flyers done and who delivered them?

Thoughts anyone?

Sounds like scare tactics to me. Reminiscent of the BS orange alerts posted along the roads in DC ahead of elections....

If there are real concerns, lay them out on the flyer so we'll all know about them. And by the way, I did not get a flyer!

Obviously this is the ring leader. (As if we didn't know already.) This was in my email box the other day. Weichert Realtors have our back.

By now you may have gotten a flyer, a mailing and possibly an eblast from the Village announcing that there is a special meeting of the Arlington Village Board of Directors in executive session, scheduled for Oct. 8th at 8:00pm. It relates to a Board action to dismiss Carmen as General Manager. While I have lots of information about this topic, I am prevented from giving a lot of details from an executive session discussion. However, I felt you should know that there is a group of Village owners that are working together to discover what has occurred and how to best deal with it. You may have also received a flyer or a mailing from some residents, encouraging you to attend the Oct 8th meeting. I suggest you to reach out to Catherine Thompson (cthom818@yahoo.com) who is coordinating communications among owners not on the Board, to find out some details.

While I hope some answers will be gleaned at the Special Board meeting on October 8, as it stands now, the Board thinks it is only going to have an executive session meeting. However, that is impossible. No meeting of the Board or Association can be completely closed. The Va Condo Act only allows a Board to go into executive session for 4 reasons. The stated purpose of the meeting is "to discuss the management continuation issues". This does not meet the standard in the law. Further, any action or motion taken in executive session must be reaffirmed in open meeting at the conclusion of an executive session. There are many people planning to attend the Board meeting to get some answers and appropriate action. What is happening in the Village right now affects all of our property values and condo fee assessments. And future decisions about the management of the Village (both by the Board and whoever ends up being General Manager) will continue to affect your condo fee amount and therefore your property value. I strongly encourage your attendance at the Board meeting on Oct 8th at 8:00 PM in the Village meeting room.

If you are unable to attend the meeting, you still need to know what is going on and may wish to take some action. You can contact the Board by sending an email to them at AVCondo@aol.com. Be sure to address any email TO THE BOARD. Let your voice heard. And be sure to vote in the upcoming elections.

I received a flyer. It sounds like some people are upset that we are getting a new GM. I don't really care. I just do not want my condo fees to go up. I also trust the board made the right decision for the community.

It's JK and the rest of her crew - again up to no good. They're going to storm the meeting Thursday and scream and yell - for what? What do they want? Are they fighting to get Carmen back? Is she fighting to maintain her control over the office, staff and AV? Oh that's right - who's going to get her properties in shape now.

I hope the President asks for her resignation and she goes. It's time for the residents of AV to wake up - this woman is toxic and needs to go!

I am not sure who Concerned AV Owners are but the content of the yellow flyer reads just like an email being circulated by Jan Kennemer. I agree with the previous posts. The group is trying to scare people. This is not the first time the Village had to fire a GM and it did not collapse or go into financial ruin. It will not happen this time either.
