Saw this on the county site and thought how great it would be if AV would do the same and have one of our own! I have lots of junk in my storage space that is just dying to be sold. Perhaps the money could go towards a local charity?

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Hope everyone is enjoying the day. Looks like Spring is right around the corner.
In case you were wondering...according to Wikipedia:
Saint Patrick's Day (Irish: Lá Fhéile Pádraig) is a yearly holiday celebrated on 17 March. It is named after Saint Patrick (circa AD 387–461), the most commonly recognized of the patron saints of Ireland. It began as a purely Catholic holiday and became an official feast day in the early 1600s. However, it has gradually become more of a secular celebration of Ireland's culture.
It is a public holiday on the island of Ireland (both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland) and widely celebrated by the Irish diaspora in places such as Great Britain, Canada, the United States, Argentina, Australia, New Zealand, and Montserrat.

The parade is organized by the Clarendon Alliance.
Look for the WALKArlington/BikeArlington Parade contingent. WALKArlington walkers will be pushing festively decorated pedestrian shopping carts, overflowing with lucky charms, candy, and WALKArlington give-aways to be tossed to paradegoers. Don't miss the roll-out of these pedestrian shopping carts, the latest in "green" walking accessories!

Workers at Giant
I'm not sure how many of you venture outside of your unit at 6:45 AM...but if you did you'd probably see the mass exodus of construction workers from their vehicles on some of the AV streets. Not that AV owns the streets around it however it is interesting to see how many workers park blocks from their work site.
Has anyone been having parking problems because of this? What do you think is going to happen once the project is complete? Will the tentants park underground or try and park near AV?

Arlington Village Website
Have you been to the AV website lately? It has all kinds of new things...however some things stay the same like the fact that the March Crier hasn't been put online yet.
I especially like all the forms that you can see online. In the past it was like pulling teeth to get the right form and then make sure it actually got to where it was supposed to go.
To be noted...the new website has discussion groups! If we had this a couple of years ago we probably would have never started the blog to begin with. Maybe Team Blogger can take a break now that we have an alternative outlet?
Tell the blog what you think about the new website.

Washer/Dryer Installation
This is a hefty expense from what I've been told. Who did you use? Where did you put it? I assume it was a stackable. Any details for other folks wanting to install would be greatly appreciated.

Replacing the Storm Doors for the Front/Back of Unit
Has anyone done this lately? Have a good person to do the work? How long does it take to order the "specific" model of door that is required by Arlington Village?
Friday, March 5, 2010
Kitchen Remodel?
If you don't know...the Arlington Village kitchen got remodeled for FREE! It's supposed to be a model. Anyone attempted remodeling your kitchen? What did you do? Independent contractor or a big company like Lowe's or Home Depot?
Thursday, March 4, 2010
All Deck...All the Time!
What's the status on your deck? Is it falling apart? Do you power wash the cement? Are you one of those residents who don't stick to the "clear natural stain" only policy?

Bathrooms, Bathrooms, Bathrooms
Have you updated your bathroom? Gotten rid of that cast iron tub? Tried to figure out how to get rid of 2 levels of floor tile?
Tuesday, March 2, 2010
Window Replacement
Have you replaced the windows in your unit?
Was it pricey? Did you use a real wood replacement or something else man-made?
Did you find a good contractor to do the work and are willing to share the info with us?
Is it easy to get approved to do the work by the Covenants committee?

Home Improvement Week - Parquet Floors
It's almost spring and I'm sure people are planning on some home improvement fixes. Since we had someone post a question about the moldy bathrooms in AV last week...let's talk about how you take care of your parquet floors and stairs.
Has anyone replaced their stairs because of cracking steps?
Have any good contractors to refinish hardwood floors?
Any questions that people may have for others in the Village about this subject?
