Elections for the Board of Directors

Did everyone read their AV mail today? Yes it is that time of year again to vote for our Board of Directors. There are 4 spots open so I hope that we can get a bevy of candidates.

I only wonder why all candidate statements have to be in by September 28th? Today is the 10th of September...so you get 18 days to figure out if you want to be in the Board running. However, the "Meet the Candidates" night isn't until NOVEMBER 4TH!!!

I personally think that if you want to run you should have until at least October 31st to throw your hat in the ring. What's the harm in giving people a month or so to think about a long term committment? Where does it say in the bylaws that you have to declare your candidacy over a month before the annual meeting?

Anyone know who is up for election that is already on the Board?

Quit your belly aching. Your blessed Crier was out earlier this month and told you about the election. And...elections are always in November. Not really a surprise. You're never happy are you?

And here I am thinking that this gal (anon, above) had been cured.

Oh, well...

Whatever Negative commentator #1 above. All valid questions that could have been answered but we are not blessed with your great knowledge. Please delete this blog from "my favorites" and go find something productive to do.

To answer the questions of the blog posting, I believe they call for candidates is done early so the office can prepare the information for the annual meeting. The candidate information has to go out to all residents and they require a minimum number returned for a valid election. That takes time and under our bylaws has to be done this way. It sucks the information has to be in so early but most people don't actually attend the annual meeting in person to vote. And most residents do not take the time to fill out or vote in the election.

Thank you for a factual response. Both questions and answers were very helpful.

I thought about running when I saw the article in the Crier but a 3 year term is a very long time to volunteer. Perhaps a shorter term would get more people to volunteer for the Board.

This made me laugh:

MOTION: Move that the Board reduce the ERC budget to $3,000.00 instead of the proposed budget of $16,000.
VOTE: Four Directors voted yes, reduce budget; three Directors opposed. The Motion passed.

Maybe they should have proposed a trillion dollars. Then they could have extorted a billion or three.

I agree with the 1st poster!

If you need that much time to explain who you are, and what you can do for the Village, then maybe you shouldn't run to begin with!

$16,000 for ERC? To do what?

I heard some of the funds they used this year was to have a party for themselves. Is this what my condo fees are paying? Why wasn't the rest of the condo invited? geez......
