I would like to know if AV is going to get fios

I want to know if our condo fees are going to go up?

I'd like to see the agenda for the board meetings on the blog and get reports from committee members. Why doesn't AV use the blog in order to spread all the good things they are doing for us?

Anonymous said...

Because they aren't doing anything....

AV doesn't even have a functional website and you expect them to blog, come on, get real!

Did you ever notice that they don't post all the votes that happen at the Board Meeting in the Crier? They only do a sampling. I wonder how many things they "choose" to share and which ones get slipped under the carpet. It's exasperating. You'd like to think that they have things in order because they are responsible for so much, but whenever I read posts about mixing up meeting times or spending $3000 in the ravine you just have to pray that nothing really bad happens.

I find the ERC people creepy; from forcing their religion on everybody to wanting to refer to everybody by first name - they seem like movie characters in a horror film.

But we're safe, right?

"This blog reflects only the opinions of the members and friends of the Environmental Resources Committee in Arlington Village. It does NOT reflect nor does it represent the opinions of the Board of Directors of the Arlington Village Condominium Association even if it hosts contributions of authors who also happen to be members of the Board. Please look for Arlington Village's official website."

But wait!! They ARE the AV Board!!

We live it ERCville!!! You'll know what they want you to know.

Hahaha, you people kill me. Referring to people by their first name??? The NERVE of them!

Read the ERC blog, Mary. May I call you Mary, Mary?

The blog used to have the dates of all the meetings on it. Can that come back again?

Please read the ERC blog. There are 3 of them on the Board and they have an agenda. Not so much for the whole Village but for their ravine.

I went to the ERC Blog to see what the hubbub was about. Look at this: "Just to contain erosion and keep some good topsoil in place, the planting of at least 800 native plants is required in the coming 2 years.
This translates into 2 x 2=4 plantings with a minimum cost of $2500 ea. Thus, the required investment for 2009 is $5000 and the current allocation covers 3000$ or 60%." They don't just want $3000, they want more!!! Unbelievable waste of money. This committee is barely over a year old and yet the ravine has survived for how many years without these plantings. Give me a break.

The whole community needs to know. The budget needs to be shown for 2-3 months so there can be 2 meetings instead of just one. They said our fees would go up in 2010, but by how much. The whole village needs to be informed of the "increased cost", not just the 15-20 that only come to the budget meeting.

Does anyone else have problems with the office not getting back to them?

Anonymous said...

Yes, I have a problem with the office not getting back with me. They screwed up an installation with my plumber after a yes when they should have said no. "Oh yea your plumber can just turn off the water at the street like they do at a single house" no they can not. You just have to call them every other day for an issue and get anything in writing or in an email.

I'd like to hear about how the grass hasn't been cut and is getting out of hand...I'd also like to hear about how the AV website has again not been updated since January and the on-line Crier is still the January issue. Also like to hear about how requests for information to the office have gone unanswered for a week or more, and how the ERC run Board is squandering our money on crap.

IS THE GRASS EVER GOING TO GET CUT!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Grass? You must live down by the ravine. We got no stinkin' grass.

Anonymous said...

Well, the "grass" is spotty and appears to be about 4 different varieties (including clover and weeds), but it's about 2 feet long right now.

Anonymous said...

I dig grass!!

How about we discuss the possibility of a trolley on the Pike?

Where are people going to shop now that Giant is closing?

Is anyone else worried about people parking in AV at Barton and Col. Pike once the new shops open? (2 years from now) All the parking will be inconvenient (underground) & that may be a problem for the Village.

When does the farmers market up by Rite Aid start?

The AV parking fervor is always ridiculous to me. We Americans are too lazy to park 2 blocks away and walk, no one is going to park that far away. All these new constructions have underground garages built, so the parking will be aplenty. Some people get so bent out of shape about parking..the only time really that non-AV people park on 'our' streets is Monday to Friday during the day when, guess what, we are all at work! So who cares if someone uses one of the 1000's of open spots for a few hours? The bigger problem is the number of non-VA license plates in the area. As an Arlington resident, you should be pissed about this, as every car you see with MD, DC and other plates is not paying their tag fees and personal property tax to Arlington. If you want to resolve some parking issues, report to the police any out of state plates you see on a vehicle for over 30 days.

I would like to correct the last poster. Just because you have out of state plates doesn't mean you are not paying property taxes. We have a large student and military population in the area that are allowed to keep their out of state plates. They do however have to pay property taxes and get an Arlington County sticker like everyone else. Check for the sticker...not the tags.

Allow me to add my two cents. I do know what all the fuss is about! As someone who lives at the top of Barton Street it is currently an issue we have to deal with. Yes, I see folks drive from the South end of the Village to park near the bus stop and I don’t much care. I see folks drive from the top of Barton to the pool during the summer. What gets me is watching the folks drive off of the Pike to park on Barton and catch the bus. The poster is correct that they may be replacing cars that have left for the day by AV residents, but it sucks when you come home and have to park in the 1200 block of Barton because all the spots are taken by commuters.
