Back to what you want to see on the blog!

Here is another topic(s)that was raised when we asked the question, what do you want to see on the blog:

How about we discuss the possibility of a trolley on the Pike?

Where are people going to shop now that Giant is closing?

Is anyone else worried about people parking in AV at Barton and Columbia Pike once the new shops open? (2 years from now) All the parking will be inconvenient (underground) & that may be a problem for the Village.

"All the parking will be inconvenient (underground)"

Come on, covered parking! The original Giant lot could never hold the amount of cars that the new development needs. The Arlington County reserved 128 parking spaces for public parking under the Halstead. There is going to be a huge park instead of parking lot. They are using smart growth instead of suburban growth. Take a deep breath everything will be okay.

Inconvenient becasue it's underground? DO you find the parking at Pentagon Row to be inconvenient as well? I think it will be a vast improvement.

As for shopping - there is a great Giant on South Glebe just past 395 that is really not that much farther away than the old ghetto Giant.

"Smart Growth" means underground parking to you? And it's "number" of cars that would allow for a "smart Post."

There are many elements that make smart growth.

So a big parking lot is smart to you? Or does the new park area bother you?

Many elements that make "smart" growth? Like What?

Nothing bothers me about it; I'm just trying to understand all the euphemisms.

Yeah, really. I don't get it. What makes underground parking inconvenient? Are you so lazy that you can't turn your wheel to the right or left to navigate a parking ramp?

In general you can look up smart growth in wikipedia. But the garage parking allows the building to be closer to the street to make it more pedestrian-accessible.

Those of us that live here in AV should be walking to the Grocery Store anyway. Get yourself a fold-up cart and some exercise!

I see. Underground parking makes it more pedestrian-accessible so people won't have to walk across the parking lot.

That saves people some needed exercise.

That IS "smart."

I think the trolley would be a nice addition to the Pike.
