Contest...how high is the grass in your courtyard?

Please write in and let us know how your courtyard is fairing with the last douse of rain that we received. I see it getting pretty high in parts and people have complained a bit on the blog.

It's actually quite funny to see how high the grass is in parts and then see where Washington Gas massacred sections of turf. Anyone using the free seed offered by the Grounds Committee?

I used the turf builder provided by the village. I hope it works. The Gas people screwed up my grass in the back and its never been the same. Its like they didn't even try to fix it.

Don't worry, they won't mow it again for a month or 2...there is an example of your condo fees hard at work...general yard maintenance once every 2 months, and money disbursements to fund Earth Day and Game Night parties. He's an idea, instead of taking from the condo fund, charge 5 bucks at the door for those that want to partake.

On the subject of the grounds, isn't that funny that the RESIDENTS are in charge of watering the grass and planting grass seed...I guess the staff is busy running memos and flyers to each door...

Well, they mowed my mud today.

Dogs running off-leash are a reason why the grass doesn't do so well in some parts of AV. Frequent, intense uses other than Washington Gas damage the grass.

If they mowed your mud, tell the grounds committee. They can fit it. But remember, grass does not grow under trees. It depends on your sun exposure. Even if you once had grass your tree's canopy grew, which blocks more sunlight. If you have mud under trees tell the grounds committee that you want to enlarge the mulch area under the tree to take the place of mud. Then talk to the grounds committee about helping you plant some shade loving plants. It will then look better. And the gas people tore up the grass, I know, but they are not coming back to fix it. If the management office had called the gas company 50 times to complain and all the residents also called they would have fixed it but it is now too late. Email the office or the grounds committee to take care of the issue. You will get an answer. Do not call. Calls get lost on note pads. Please email or walk your message to the office.

@Anonymous... The grass seed was purchased so residents could plant grass in areas that they felt needed work. A spot here and there. Maybe where their dog dug a hole. Only if they wanted, there are some gardeners in the Village that enjoy it. If you have a problem, come to a grounds committee meeting and voice a problem you are having. Other people's problems have been addressed or are in the works. Or send an email to the grounds committee.

Also, the staff are there to do maintenance work not grounds work. It would be nice if time was allotted to do grounds work but time is not. Truthfully, I do not know what they do other than deal with complaints. We rely on Lancaster for grounds maintenance. This year will be a better year than last. You will see next spring.

The grounds are mowed weekly during the growing season and biweekly during the summer when we have hot and dry weather.

Grounds committee does not sponsor the Earth Day or Game Night events.

Issues can be brought up on this board but email someone so your thoughts are heard with an unit number, so you can be contacted.
