Monthly Crier

I was reminded yesterday by another poster that the Crier is past due. I was under the impression that it would come out a week after the Board Meeting. I can't wait until we can get the online version.

Here we go with Crier crying....

Folks, the Crier comes out as soon as possible after a board meeting. There is NO SET DATE FOR DELIVERY!

Voluteers write it, Carmen compiles it. Folks miss the submission dates and whine for enclusion to slow down the process. There are discussions and complaints over what needs to be included. Takes time.

You'll get it when it is ready!

Maybe with the new web site it will get done faster. Truth, I doubt it.

If someone spoke to me the way the above comment is written I'd slap her mouth.

Volu-teer, or not.

She could at least be civil with her tripe.

"slap her mouth." Really? I didn't think people did that anymore.

Why not just pull out a gun and shoot her?

I hear they do that all the time.

The above post about shooting should be eliminated from this board, and the author ashamed with themselves.

Obviously the initial poster is on the Board or works for the office.

If it is such a hassle to get the Crier out then stop spending money on it. Just a reminder, office staff get paid they aren't volunteers. They should be managing the Crier better! If you can't get an article in on time leave it out.

I thought the same thing. Third and fifth posts as well.

It's really too bad.

I agree. The crier is part of the office duty staff. They are paid. NOT volunteers. They should be doing a better job of managing the process.

Yes, they are paid, not volunteers.

It's just a newsletter.

The slapping and shooting comments are bizarre and scary.

Can I punch in the knee - would that be accpetable?

Is there every anything truely inspring in the crier that you get upset when it doesn't come.

Maybe I should be pissed they refunded $60 dollars for somebody's flower fetish

Yeah, (hic) what he shed (hic). Can I punsh inna knee, or no?

Please...Stop crying over the Cryer...I have to agree with the getting of Netflix or a life... There are so many things to enjoy in the Village..shoot in the DC/VA area. Let me ask, Do you have any friends? Do you invite them over.. or go out to get a drink/tea with them? Have you considered exercising.. I hear it helps the "Feel Good" Hormones. In general.. Can't we start posting things that aren't horrible with Living Life in Arlington Village? There are many who enjoy living in the Village...and would like to stop hearing people crying about the Small Stuff... like the cryer.

I know there's a way to add contributors to a blog..to the Author of this Blog.. maybe you could let there be a Guest (or Ghost)writer/s here and let them take the reigns sometimes. Be interesting to see what other takes there are in AV.

For those residents who continue to have lots of problems with Arlington Village, here's a suggestion -- move. Nobody is forcing you to live here. You can purchase a new condo and pay a $400-500 monthly fee or get a high end rental (700 sq ft) for $1800 a month, and that's before the parking fees, etc. kick in.

The above post is so foolish that it must have been written by an employee of Arlington Village.

Just do the job you are (over)paid to do - and let the people who have made Arlington Village their home have a blog where they can voice their concerns.

Personally, if someone - board member or employee - doesn't LIVE in A.V., I have no interest in his/her opinion regarding A.V.

I'm not an employee and I'm not on the board. Instead of shooting down the messenger, just read the message. Overpaid? I seriously doubt the management staff would be considered overpaid. Try not to confuse them with the Wall Street crooks. All I'm trying to convey is that there are REAL issues that require attention. Our condo fee is not one of them. Just go around to other communities, and you'll discover quickly that ours are very reasonable given the ammenities in the community. Having said that, I do believe the office staff needs to get caught up on the technology -- not having a web site that is really functional makes no sense. I think our condo president, Greg, recognizes this and addressed it in the recent issue of the Crier.

If you don't believe condo fees require your attention, so what? Pay no attention to them.

And what happens in other "communities" is interesting only in passing.

Since condo fees pay for the services (and taxes)provided to A.V. residents, some might say that they are important. Some might think that proper communication between the board and residents is important. And some might wonder what the staff is actually "computing" down there at headquarters.

But if your not one of those people, so what? No one else can have an opinion?

I agree with the poster who sez; "if you're not happy here, move."

But chances are, you're just not happy, so it dosen't matter where you live.

Anonymous said...

Seriously: Jan, is that you? We'd all be happy for you to admit it.

For me, I WOULD move, but who's to know whether I'd move to where YOU live?

And then I'd really be not happy. Who would?

Anonymous said...

For all of you who are obsessed with everything Jan, you REALLY do need to move.

Jan? Jan who? Jan Brady of the Brady Bunch? I always thought she was cuter than Marsha.

There are a lot of suggestions that people move away on this blog.

Anyone know Why?

I hate trolls. For all of you that don't know what that means: a troll is someone who posts controversial, inflammatory, irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum or chat room, with the primary intent of provoking other users into an emotional response or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion. Our AV troll likes to post messages to themselves and then answer them as well. I would hope that the civilized AV residents would ignore the troll.

Please don't hate me because I'm beautiful and I don't live among the peasants in Arlington Village.
