Just a reminder to stop by the AV office this evening so that you can see what's happening in Arlington Village. The meetings aren't really highly attended. Please stop by and be an audience. The Board allows residents to address them at the beginning of the meeting if they have any announcements, problems or want to give someone a pat on the back. Please send any feedback from the meeting to the blog.
I still would like the committees to send in their notes from their meetings. I think that residents would like a more direct way of seeing what takes place at both the committee and board meetings. Perhaps more people would get involved if they felt more included in the process?
Who knows, maybe we could even webcast the meetings?

Because of my work schedule I am not able to attend the board meetings (or committee meetings, for that matter). I think webcasting the meetings is a brilliant idea. How do we go about making that happen?
Webcasting the Board Meetings...? The Village can't even keep a website updated - does anyone really think they'll webcast the meetings?
You don't have time?! The meetings are ONLY once a month, in the evening. And the webcasting suggestion is only a copout.
Everyone should be able to find time to attend ONE meeting, ONCE a month. Plus, it's a great way to meet your neighbors, and find out, first hand, what's going on in YOUR community.
Clearly the only reason to go to board meeting is to PREVENT the board from doing what they want to get away with.
Should people go? Sure. But I know what's going on in my community because I'm making it go on.
I'll let the board machinate over things like what to do when board members dig new flower beds, or how much of other people's money to give to personal pet projects - without witnesses. I suspect that's how they want it.
If it were not so, they'd print/post/disseminate the minutes of the previous meetings.
Which reminds me, where's Cupcake been?
I'd suggest posting the meetings the day of (as you do with the Board meetings) -- this may encourage more people to attend because I look a the Crier once, realize it's the same nonsense, and heave it.
Sharon, I agree that the meetings aren't convenient to everyone's schedules. That's why it would be nice if there was a webcast or some type of video available of the meetings. Not everyone works during the day. I don't believe webcasting is a copout...I think it is called technology.
Cupcake is just keeping an eye on the blog. It has just gotten too petty and mean.
What Cupcake had hoped would become a forum for creative thinking about issues facing us all, has devolved into juvenile bickering.
That's because it's not a forum, it's a blog.
If people had to register handles, the sniping would diminish.
I guess I should have been more specific. I can't attend the meetings because I work until 9:00 pm on Tuesdays, not because I refuse to make the time. Alas, I have not perfected the ability to be 2 places at once.
