Back to what you want to see on the blog!

Here is another topic(s)that was raised when we asked the question, what do you want to see on the blog:

How about we discuss the possibility of a trolley on the Pike?

Where are people going to shop now that Giant is closing?

Is anyone else worried about people parking in AV at Barton and Columbia Pike once the new shops open? (2 years from now) All the parking will be inconvenient (underground) & that may be a problem for the Village.

Board Mtg. Last Night and Blog Haters!

So...was anyone there at the meeting last night...anything happen?

I heard from a little bird that heard through a friend of a little bird that some board members don't think our little blog is valid since not everyone posts a name. They don't believe anonymous posters. They question if the blogger isn't the anon poster and just making up random stories.

I wish I could sit here thinking up random story lines and blogging all day. If that was the case I would just become a writer. Alas, I think the board fears that there are actually people with opinions and they voice them.

On a side note...someone posted that the cops were called this weekend on a party. Where was that unit at? Those people sound like fun...perhaps they'd invite me over for their next bender? :) I guess they didn't read the previous posts on being neighborly?

Game Night is TONIGHT!

Ready to get your game on? AV's second game night will be in progress this evening. If you need alcoholic refreshments you will need to BYOB. This isn't really my kind of thing...so if you plan on going...let us unsocial folks know how it went.

Also, what games do you think they should have on game night?

Happy Earth Day!

Don't forget to recycle...plant a tree...or possibly even walk to work. You'd think that they would try and have an Earth Day every month? 12 out of 365 days would be better than just one per year...right?

Alas, I believe that the ERC committee is having some type of Earth Day event tonight in Arlington Village. If you know the details please post. I've recycled my Crier so I have no idea what's happening.

Anyone doing anything good for Earth Day?

Parking in Arlington Village

This was another topic that was creating quite a stir in some of our other threads.

Do you have space near your unit to park?

Do out-of-state plates make you crazy?

What do you think can be done to help curb the problem?

Should units be permitted to only have so many cars depending on their size? One bedroom = One car?

What have you done for your neighbor lately?

Just a reminder that this blog isn't about all that is wrong with the Village...but also all that is right.

I love living in the Village since it is so close to DC but set back enough to make it feel like I'm not in the city. We have plenty of trees and grass (patchy at that) and mostly nice but quiet neighbors.

I understand that some people just want to be left alone...they don't want to say hi to their neighbors and in general are just not social. But, I believe that most AV residents (owners and renters) say hello to their neighbors at the very least.

So...what have you done for your neighbor lately? Picked up their mail? Walked their dog or fed their cat while they were on vacation? Invited them over for dinner?

Check out this article for more neighbor friendly ideas.

Farewell Giant Supermarket

Yes, tomorrow is D-Day for our beloved Giant. Even though the lines were always long and the store was not a mecca of cleanliness...you will be missed. Especially at times when I've forgotten an important ingredient for dinner or just needed to pop out at 9:59 PM to get milk for the morning.

Will you miss the Giant or are you happy to see it go and get reincarnated???

Do you get along with your neighbors?

Here's a big question...do you get along with your neighbors? Do you even know your neighbors?

How do you think people should handle problems with neighbors in the Village? Should they talk to their neighbors? Should they just send a complaint to the Covenants Committee...call the police?

Do you have any real life examples of what's worked or maybe what's not worked?

Contest...how high is the grass in your courtyard?

Please write in and let us know how your courtyard is fairing with the last douse of rain that we received. I see it getting pretty high in parts and people have complained a bit on the blog.

It's actually quite funny to see how high the grass is in parts and then see where Washington Gas massacred sections of turf. Anyone using the free seed offered by the Grounds Committee?

Next on the list for blog topics!

Should the Board send out the agenda for the Board Meetings? Perhaps they could send it out on the AV Blast?

Or do you think there is a way to get the Board to tape the Board Meetings with a camera instead of just having a shotty tape recording?

How do you think AV can communicate with residents better?

Ask and Ye Shall Receive! FiOS for the masses.

So...the blog asked last week what would you like to talk about? Let's talk about FiOS. I'm not a computer genius so for all of you that don't know FiOS is basically fiber optic service for internet, telephone and tv service. From what I understand, it is supposed to be super fast and THE THING to have.

This issue has been talked about for a very long time at Arlington Village Board Meetings. I think the Communications Committee should take it on since it is technically a device used for Communications.

I know people out there have fought for FiOS. Any news from your dealings with AV on what's going to happen? Anybody know how we can move forward? Perhaps people have feelings either way on FiOS?

What would you like to hear about on the Blog?

You come to the blog...you read the blog...you might even post your opinion on the blog. Now it is your turn to say what you'd like to see on the blog. Let's know what you'd like to discuss.
